Asian Butt Lift (ABL)
Skinny BBL · Brazilian Butt Lift · Dr. Jaafar’s own concept
Dr. Al Farabi Jaafar developed the concept of Asian Butt Lifting (ABL) as a body-contouring approach particularly suited to Asian anatomy, slimmer patients and individuals seeking more conservative, proportionate enhancement.
Brazilian Butt Lift is fundamentally a combination of liposuction, body contouring and fat grafting. The operation has two components. First, liposuction removes unwanted fat from selected donor areas such as the abdomen, waist, flanks or other suitable areas. Second, usable harvested fat is prepared and transferred into selected portions of the buttocks and hips.
A patient may initially believe that a larger buttock is required to produce a more attractive figure. In many cases, however, improving the contour of the waist and surrounding areas produces an equally important transformation. Reducing fullness around the waist, flanks and lower back can make the buttocks appear more projected without requiring excessive fat transfer.
Dr. Jaafar therefore approaches this as lipo-contouring plus selective fat grafting rather than fat injection alone. This is particularly relevant in Asian patients and patients with smaller body frames, where excessive grafting may produce proportions that do not correspond naturally with the patient’s skeletal structure.
Asian body types frequently differ from the exaggerated hourglass proportions commonly associated with BBL images on social media. Instead of concentrating primarily on how much fat can be injected, Dr. Jaafar evaluates the entire waist-to-hip-to-buttock silhouette.
The goal is not necessarily the largest possible buttock. The goal is to create a harmonious body contour appropriate for the individual patient. The objective is a result that belongs naturally to the patient’s body rather than imposing the same buttock dimensions on every patient.
The appearance immediately after surgery should not be interpreted as the final result. Swelling gradually decreases and a proportion of transferred fat undergoes natural resorption. The contour continues to evolve over the succeeding weeks and months.
Techniques and options
Harvesting protocol
Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) for efficient harvesting. Closed-system handling using a Lipo-Filter Kit to minimize exposure to contaminants. No centrifugation - gravity or decantation instead, to lessen trauma to the fat. Gauze filtration is avoided to keep impurities such as fibers out of the graft.
Grafting protocol
Immediate grafting within 2 hours of processing to ensure viability and a high survival rate. Injection in small graft sizes for good blood supply access. Even distribution, avoiding large lumps prone to fat necrosis or abscess. Injection into multiple layers of the subcutaneous tissue for more volume grafting, with measures to prevent intra-vascular injection.
Recovery
- First 24 hours Stay in bed except when eating or going to the toilet. A responsible adult must accompany you. Do not remove the elastic bandage on the tummy and waist. Some blood-tinged fluid soaking the dressing on the first day is normal.
- Day 2-3 Follow-up with Dr. Jaafar for wound cleaning, placement of waterproof plasters and re-application of the elastic bandage. Staff assist with fitting the compression garment.
- Day 7 Return for stitch removal.
- Weeks 6-8 Maintain use of the body shaping garment.
Aftercare
- Sit only on seats with soft cushion and avoid pressure over the grafted areas
- Take the antibiotics and pain medication provided
- Expect soreness over the grafted buttocks and the liposuctioned areas
- Maintain the body shaping garment for 6-8 weeks
Questions
How much fat is transferred?
The appropriate volume depends on the patient’s body size, buttock dimensions, available donor fat, existing soft-tissue thickness, desired change and the surgeon’s assessment of what can be performed safely and proportionately.
Am I a suitable candidate?
A suitable candidate is generally an adult in good overall health with realistic expectations and sufficient donor fat. Patients significantly above their ideal surgical weight may be advised to undergo weight management first. Very thin patients may have insufficient donor fat, in which case Dr. Jaafar can discuss a smaller-volume transfer or the Asian Butt Lift approach.
How much does it cost?
The cost varies because this is not a standardized one-size-fits-all procedure. An accurate quotation is best provided after evaluation of height, weight, BMI, medical history and photographs, or after an in-person consultation.
